Is Life Spinning Out of Control? How to Find God's Peace.
Do you ever feel like your life is spinning out of control? Do you feel like God is far off and has forgotten about you? You’re not alone. Everyone ends up in a place like that at times.
Even Jesus felt that way on the cross. Afterall, he cried out, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” So, if you feel abandoned and alone, you are in good company.
Jesus' resurrection serves as a powerful symbol of hope. God's ultimate plan unfolded amidst unimaginable suffering. This doesn't diminish the difficulty you face, but it offers a powerful perspective: even in the darkest moments, God doesn't abandon you.
Trusting God’s Control When You Are Out of Control
Consider this: when Jesus walked out of his tomb on Easter morning, he proved that God was always in control. He was in control when Jesus sweated blood. He was in control when Jesus was arrested. He was in control when Jesus was beaten. And God was still in control when Jesus was crucified and buried.
Even though the worst possible things happened to Jesus, there was ultimately nothing to fear. God used horrible things to do the greatest thing.
Experience God’s Peace In The Face of Your Challenge
I mention this because the same is true for whatever trouble you are facing now. Even though you may feel like you are in a freefall, God is in control. So, fall into his arms and trust that he will carry you through your crisis. Surrender to his control and find the peace that only he can give.
Life may be different on the other side of your problem but it can still be good, if you trust in God’s goodness.
Take Control of Your Thought Life
When life feels out of control it’s necessary to take control of your thought life. Our temptation is to worry and project the worst case scenario. So it’s important to take responsibility for your thoughts through prayer and meditation.
Pray:
You may be prayed out by now, begging God to save you. So change direction. Let God know how you feel. Tell him about your fear and ask him to build your faith in him. Then, simply sit before God in silence, breathing in his peace.
Meditate on His Word:
There are a few verses in the Bible that I recommend reading over and over, allowing them to sink into the depths of your mind and heart.
Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (NIV)
Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (NIV)
Psalm 56:3-4: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust without fear. What can mortal man do to me?" (NIV)
Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (NIV)
Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (NIV)
Start your day with these verses and return to them as many times as necessary throughout the day. God doesn’t want your life to spin out of control. He wants you to find rest in his peace.
A Prayer For God’s Peace
Let me pray for you:
Father, please strengthen my reader in their fear and weakness. Might they sense your Spirit filling them and empowering them to confront whatever it is that they face today. And might they trust in your resurrection power to bring hope and promise to their sense of hopelessness and despair. Amen.
